This Cookie Policy supplements Wink’s Privacy Policy and explains what cookies and similar Technologies are, how Wink uses such Technologies, as well as how you can control Wink’s use of Technologies. Capitalized terms not defined in this Cookie Policy have the meaning set forth in Wink Privacy Policy.

1. Cookies.

Cookies are small text files placed in visitors’ device browsers to store their preferences. Cookies are widely used in order to make websites work or work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information. A cookie may have unique identifiers and reside, among other places, on your device, in emails we send to you, on the Wink Services, and on third-party sites using our plug-ins, widgets, embedded content, and pixels. Cookies set by us are called “first-party cookies.”

Cookies set by parties other than us are called “third-party cookies.” Third-party cookies enable features or functionality provided by third parties in connection with the Wink Services. For example, we may use third-party cookies to assist us with advertising, interactive features, and analytics. The parties that set these third-party cookies can recognize your device both when it visits the Wink Services and also when it visits certain other websites in their networks.

2. Pixel Tags/Web Beacons.

A pixel tag (also known as a web beacon) is a piece of code embedded on the Wink Services that collects information about users’ engagement on that page or feature. The use of a pixel allows us to record, for example, that a user has visited a particular web page or clicked on a particular advertisement. We may also include web beacons in e-mails to understand whether messages have been opened, acted on, or forwarded.

3. Use of Technologies.

Our uses of Technologies fall into the following general categories:

  1. Operationally Necessary.
We may use Technologies that are necessary to the operation of the Wink Services. This includes Technologies that allow you to access the Wink Services; that are required to identify irregular site behavior, prevent fraudulent activity, and improve security; or that allow you to make use of our functions such as shopping-carts, saved search, or similar functions.
  2. Performance Related.
We may use Technologies to assess the performance of the Wink Services, including as part of our analytics activities to help us understand how people use the Wink Services, determine if you have interacted with our messaging, determine whether you have viewed an item or link, or to improve the Wink Services.
  3. Functionality Related.
We may use Technologies that allow us to offer you enhanced functionality when accessing or using the Wink Services. This may include identifying you when you sign into the Wink Services or keeping track of your specified preferences, interests, or past items viewed so that we may enhance the presentation of content on the Wink Services.
  4. Advertising or Targeting Related.
We may use first-party or third-party Technologies to deliver content, including ads relevant to your interests, on the Wink Services or on third-party sites. This includes using Technologies to understand the usefulness of the advertisements and content that has been delivered to you, such as whether you have clicked on an advertisement.

4. Analytics.

We may use Technologies provided by various analytics providers including, but not limited to, the providers listed below.

  1. Google.
We use Google Analytics to collect analytics information on the Wink Services. You can opt-out of Google’s Processing of your information on our website by following the instructions here.

5. Managing Technologies.

You may stop or restrict the placement of Technologies on your device or remove them by adjusting your preferences as your browser or device permits. Please note that turning off or deleting cookies will not prevent device identification and related data collection from occurring. If you choose to reject cookies, your access to some functionality and areas of the Wink Services may be restricted. Since the method by which you can refuse cookies through your web browser controls vary from browser-to-browser, you should visit your browser’s technical information for instructions on how to delete and disable cookies.
